BailAMale ("the app," "we") helps husbands be better partners with AI-powered relationship coaching. Privacy isn't a legal checkbox for us — the app only works if you can be honest inside it, so we treat what you tell us like a friend would: it stays between us.
What you give us:
Collected automatically:
The email box on bailamale.com stores the email you type and the time you sent it, in our database (Supabase). We use it for one thing: telling you when BailAMale is out. It isn't shared, isn't used for ads, and isn't linked to an app account. To be taken off the list, email support@bailamale.com.
Onboarding asks what's going on in your relationship — including, if you're in the middle of something, what the fight was about and what she said. Those answers are sent to OpenAI to generate your first piece of advice before you sign in and before you have an account. We think you should know that at the point you type it, not afterwards.
That text is held only as long as it takes to produce the reply and to carry your answers into the account you create at the end. If you quit onboarding without signing up, nothing is tied to a person — there is no account for it to belong to. We also count anonymous requests by IP address, purely to stop one machine hammering the coach. That count is only ever read on the day it's made, is deleted automatically within three days, and is used for nothing else.
When you message your coach, we send your message — along with the relationship context you've saved (her name, your survey answers, recent moods, notes, upcoming dates) — to OpenAI's API to generate the reply. OpenAI processes it to produce the response and does not use API data to train its models. Your conversations are not used to train any AI. All AI calls happen from our servers, never directly from your device.
The coach also gets a short summary of your recent conversations — roughly when they happened, what you came in with, and the one suggestion it gave you — so it stops repeating itself and can notice when something keeps coming up. That summary is built on your device from conversations you already have; nothing new is stored to make it.
Your app data is stored locally on your device first, and backed up (encrypted in transit) to our database (Supabase) so it survives phone changes. Your data is isolated to your account — database rules make it technically impossible for another user to read your rows.
| Provider | Job | What they handle |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | database, sign-in | your account + synced app data, and waitlist emails |
| OpenAI | generates coach replies | messages + coaching context, transiently |
| PostHog | analytics | usage events (no content) |
| RevenueCat / Apple | subscriptions | purchase status |
| Google / Apple | sign-in | your email and name |
No other sharing, except if the law compels us.
In the app: Settings → Delete Account removes your account and everything synced to our servers. It is a real delete, not a flag — the rows are gone. Deleting the app from your phone removes all local data. By email: contact us and we'll delete everything tied to your account.
You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it — email us. We're based in Ontario, Canada (PIPEDA applies); if you're elsewhere, we honor the spirit of your local privacy law rather than lawyering about jurisdiction.
Relationship information is intimate. We designed around that: local-first storage, no partner-facing features, no content in analytics, no ads, no data sales. If we're ever acquired or shut down, your data either transfers under this same policy or gets deleted — those are the only two options.
BailAMale is coaching-style advice generated by AI. It is not therapy, medical care, or crisis support, and no therapist-client relationship exists. If you're in crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call/text 988 in the US and Canada).
BailAMale is for adults (18+).
If this policy changes meaningfully, we'll tell you in the app before the change applies.
